# Online store development for companies that already sell

We work with stores that have revenue and have hit the limit of their platform: missing integrations, features or speed once the catalogue grows. We handle the whole job, from audit and design to data migration and hooking up ERP, warehouse and carriers. You know the price before we start, and the code and data sit with your company from day one.

**

The platform follows from the process

We don't have one platform to sell you. The choice depends on your catalogue, your list of integrations and whether you also sell outside your own store.

**

The same team after launch

The same people run your store, campaigns and SEO at JustIdea. After launch you don't go looking for a second supplier or explain the project from scratch.

What usually goes wrong

## A store meant to last a year has stayed with you for five

The company grows faster than its store, and the cost of that gap never shows up as its own line on an invoice. Nobody questions a cost with no budget line, so workarounds carry over into next year, and the next season.

**

### Manual work instead of integration

Someone re-types orders into the ERP by hand, someone else corrects stock levels manually. It's work that grows with sales instead of shrinking.

**

### A feature you have to wait for

A free-shipping threshold, prices for regular customers, a product configurator. On a closed platform each one is a request to a supplier, not your own decision.

**

### A catalogue that outgrew the platform

A few thousand SKUs, attribute filters and variants. The site slows down, the basket loses customers, and the layer that needs fixing isn't even visible in the admin panel.

Definition

### Why does a build take longer than launching a store?

**Online store development is** work that connects a sales platform to how the company actually runs: the catalogue, warehouse, payments, shipping and accounting. The store itself can go up in a week. The rest of the time goes into making sure nobody re-types data from one system into another after launch.

The process map comes before the platform

We start with what happens to an order between a click and an invoice. The platform follows from that map, it isn't an assumption we start with.

Integrations are the core, not an add-on

ERP, warehouse, BaseLinker, carriers and payment gateways. They decide how much work is left for people once the store is live.

A migration is a data project

Products, customers, orders and addresses. We build the 301 redirect map before the switch, because every day without it afterwards costs Google rankings.

Choosing a platform

## PrestaShop, WooCommerce or a subscription platform?

Three options that companies with revenue genuinely choose between. They differ not in starting price, but in what happens to the bill once sales grow.

PrestaShop, WooCommerce or a subscription platform?

| Criterion | PrestaShop | WooCommerce | Subscription platform |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Revenue commission | none | none | usually yes, grows with revenue |
| Ownership of code and data | ✓ | ✓ | – |
| Catalogue above a few thousand SKUs | a strength | needs tuning | depends on the plan |
| Store alongside content and a blog | takes work | a strength | usually a separate tool |
| B2B sales, price lists and trade limits | ✓ | via plugins | rare |
| Who is responsible for updates | you or a partner | you or a partner | the provider |
| Cost of reshaping the store for a new process | hours of work | hours of work | waiting for the roadmap |

Our rule of thumb

## PrestaShop or WooCommerce, and when neither

The table above shows the differences between platforms. This is the rule we actually choose by, and in one of the four cases it ends with us advising against a build at all.

### PrestaShop for a complex catalogue and B2B sales

Multiple variants, attribute filters, contract-specific prices, trade limits, data exchange with a warehouse system. Some of this already sits in the platform's core, so you don't write it from scratch, and that shows in the build budget.

### WooCommerce for a store built around content

Guides, a blog and a catalogue in one panel, a smaller catalogue without extensive variants, a team that already knows WordPress. Cheaper entry and a faster launch, with a clear ceiling past which running costs start to climb.

### A dedicated solution for an unusual process

When sales don't fit the basket model: pricing based on parameters, orders from a file, an approval workflow on the buyer's side. Then the store is often just one layer, not the whole system, and we build the rest alongside it.

### When we advise against building from scratch

If your current store works and the problem is performance, integrations or looks, an audit and a clean-up are cheaper than a new build. A new store is then the most expensive answer to a question that has a cheaper one.

Scope of work

## Where the time and budget go on this project

The split is a convention, since one team and one contract run the whole thing. It shows what the timeline is made of: data and integrations eat the most time, not drawing screens.

### Design and build

Workshop, process map, screen design, store build and catalogue setup. You end up with a store ready to sell, documentation and a trained team.

![Diagram of an online store build](https://justidea.agency/assets/ill-sklepy-internetowe-wdrozenie.svg)

### Migration and integrations

Moving data from the old platform, a 301 redirect map, hooking up ERP, warehouse, BaseLinker, payments and carriers. We test the whole order path before the switch, from click to courier label.

![Diagram of migrating a store to a new platform](https://justidea.agency/assets/ill-sklepy-internetowe-migracja.svg)

### Growth after launch

Technical care, feature development, campaigns and SEO. We measure this part by the store's profit, not by the number of screens built or a ranking position.

Scope of services

## What online store development is made of

You don't have to take it all at once. Each item has its own scope, its own entry price and its own page with detail, so the project can be built in stages.

Project timeline

## From audit to switch-over: four stages

We don't start with a build contract, we start by working out whether it pays off. The audit is a separate service and you're free to stop there: the report stays yours even if we don't build the store.

1.

1

### Audit and platform decision

10 working days

We check your current store, server, integrations and data. You get a list of priorities and a platform recommendation with reasoning. Price €860 net, no obligation for further work.

2.

2

### Workshop and quote

2-3 weeks

A map of processes and integrations, screen design, an exclusions list. The price is fixed and follows from that scope, not from a price range.

3.

3

### Build, migration and testing

10-33 weeks depending on the option

The store, integrations and moving products, customers and orders over. We build 301 redirects from real Search Console traffic before the switch. We schedule the launch itself outside peak season, with a rollback plan ready.

4.

4

### Care and growth

ongoing work

Maintenance, feature development, campaigns and SEO. We measure the first three months after launch separately, because that's when you see what the process really does to sales.

How we work

## What you can expect from us during a build

01

### Fixed quote after a brief

You know the price before we start. A change of scope is a separate decision, not a surprise on the invoice.

02

### Code and data are yours

The repository, hosting and accounts are set up under your company, not JustIdea. There's no exit fee in the contract.

03

### No poking around in the core

Changes go in as modules, so a platform update doesn't mean rewriting the store from scratch.

04

### We tell you what we won't do

If a cheaper option is enough, or a project doesn't make sense, you hear that before you sign anything.

After launch

## A build doesn't sell on its own

![Sales chart rising over the months after a store launch, with the start of campaigns and SEO marked](https://justidea.agency/assets/ill-sklepy-internetowe-sprzedaz.svg)

A store launched and left on its own usually drifts back to its pre-change result within a few months. That's why we measure the first three months after launch separately: the basket, the purchase path and returns. We only raise campaign budget once we can see which of those numbers have actually moved.

The same goes for migrations. Visibility in Google after a platform change needs time to settle, and no agency gets around that, us included. You can make that dip shallow and short, but all the work for it happens before the switch, not after.

Client reviews

## You choose a store contractor for years, so check the ratings

A store has to work and earn every day after launch, and every update and every change to your offer comes back to whoever built it. The ratings cover all of JustIdea, not just store builds.

## What partner status gives us when building a store

Partner status on its own changes nothing in your store. What it changes is how much we can do when something breaks on the platform side, and how early we know about changes in the next release. These are only the statuses that actually do something when building a store.

### PrestaShop Expert ★★★

PrestaShop, agency programme

The top tier of the agency programme, on the platform most of our builds run on. In practice it means a route to report core bugs to the maker and knowledge of the next release's requirements before it reaches stores.

### Top E-commerce Developers Kraków 2026

Clutch, e-commerce developer ranking

A ranking of e-commerce developers. Clutch calls the author of every review before publishing it, so this ranking rests on conversations with our clients, not on a submission to a directory.

### base. (BaseLinker)

BaseLinker, integration partnership

A store without a link to the warehouse and carriers becomes manual work. We keep the integration on our side, so a change in the store doesn't end in stock levels drifting apart.

### Google Premier Partner

Google, top tier of the Google Partners programme

A store that isn't selling rarely has just a technical problem. This status gives us support from Google and access to features before release, so we design tracking and campaigns together with the build, not after it.

Pricing

## How much an online store costs

You pay at three points: before you decide, during the build and after launch. All prices are net, from JustIdea's price list, and the workshop sets the final build cost based on the number of integrations, catalogue size and design scope. Options and entry prices are on the store pricing page.

Before you sign

## Six objections that come up before the first quote

We answer each one with a checkable fact or a price, not a promise. If any answer doesn't convince you, say so on the first call, not after signing.

### “Maybe our store doesn't need replacing at all”

Possible, and we check it ourselves. A technical audit for €860 net ends with a list of priorities, not an implementation offer. Sometimes fixing performance and integrations is enough, and then that's exactly what we recommend.

### “An agency will make it pretty but it won't sell”

We co-build Surf Inc., a top-ten PrestaShop store in Poland, and we're responsible there for technology and marketing. Every solution we propose to you has already been through that profit and loss account, and results for other companies' stores are shown above, in our case studies.

### “Our process is too unusual for an off-the-shelf store”

That's why we start with a process map, not a template. Configurators, price lists for regular customers, trade limits and orders from a file are built as modules, billed at €80 net per hour.

### “We'll be left on our own after launch”

Post-launch care starts from €320 net a month and has a 24-hour response time written into the contract, on business days. You get documentation and access either way, whether you stay with us or not.

### “We don't have the budget to build from scratch”

Then a ready-made subscription platform is often the better choice. We do not cut scope down to the point a build stops making sense. A project can also be split into stages, starting with the audit alone.

### “We already have a store contractor”

We don't push you to switch. We usually start with a second opinion in writing: the audit shows what works in your current store and what's costing you sales. You can take that document to your own contractor.

Before you choose

## Whose store will we build for you?

Short answer

Yours, in full: both platforms we build on are open source, so you get the code, the database and the access, and the contract transfers to you the rights to what we write for you. Leave a subscription platform and you walk away with a CSV export and nothing else.

We settle which platform to choose on the first call. It's usually decided not by technology but by the number of product variants, how the warehouse works and whether you also sell outside your own store.

![Comparison of an open-source platform and a subscription one: the first leaves you the code, database and access, the second a CSV export](https://justidea.agency/assets/ill-sklepy-internetowe-czyj-sklep.svg)

### Go for an open-source platform

- You want to own the code, the database and the access.
- You have unusual product variants or warehouse workflows.
- You also sell outside your own store and need to connect that.
- You don't want to pay a revenue commission for the store's whole life.

### Don't migrate yet

- Your current platform isn't the bottleneck: migrating is months of work.
- Every migration eats into some search visibility.

FAQ

## Cost, timeline and migration: questions before you decide

**### How much does it cost to build an online store?**

A build on a ready-made theme with no design changes starts from €4,890 net. Larger scopes, such as a custom design or a WooCommerce build, get a custom quote after the workshop, once we know your number of integrations, catalogue size and design scope.

**### How much does monthly store maintenance cost?**

Post-launch care starts from €320 net a month for a five-hour package. Larger packages and third-party modules get a custom quote based on your store.

**### How long does a store build take?**

A typical build takes 10 to 18 weeks, counting from the workshop to the switch-over. A project with custom design and more integrations stretches to 33 weeks. The timeline is decided not by the graphics but by how many systems the store needs to talk to, and by the state of the data in your old store.

**### PrestaShop or WooCommerce, which should I choose?**

PrestaShop works well with a large catalogue, B2B sales and several markets at once. WooCommerce wins where the store needs to live alongside content and a blog, and the catalogue is smaller. We give a recommendation after an audit, because the choice follows from your sales process, not from a preference for one platform.

**### Will you migrate my store from Shoper or Shopify?**

Yes. We handle migrations from Shoper, Shopify, Magento, Comarch ERP XL e-Sklep and custom-built systems. We move products, categories, customers, orders and content, and we build the 301 redirect map from real Search Console traffic before the switch.

**### Will migration hurt my visibility in Google?**

A short dip after a platform change is normal. You can limit how big that dip is with redirects prepared before the switch and by timing the launch outside peak season.

## Building an online store: price, timeline, platform, B2B sales

**

### How much does an online store cost for a company

Building an online store for companies that already sell usually falls between €4,890 net for a build on a ready-made theme and several hundred thousand for a project with custom design and extensive integrations. Three things make up that figure: how many systems the store needs to connect to, catalogue size, and how many processes have to move over from the old store. The theme itself is the cheapest part of the project, integrations the most expensive, so a quote without a conversation about your process is always a guess.

**

### Open source or a subscription platform

A ready-made subscription platform wins on simplicity at a smaller scale: you don't worry about updates or a server. Open source, meaning PrestaShop or WooCommerce, starts to win once the revenue commission and waiting on someone else's roadmap start costing more than a permanent technical partner. There's no threshold you can quote in isolation from margin, but in practice the conversation starts around €50k a month in revenue, or with B2B sales, where price lists and trade limits can't be worked around.

**

### What really decides the build timeline

Companies ask about timeline thinking of the graphics, but it's decided by the state of the data and the number of integrations. A catalogue with disorganised attributes, photos in different formats and an ERP with no API can stretch a project further than a custom design ever would. That's why we run a technical audit for €860 net before quoting: after it, the timeline stops being a range and becomes a schedule with dates.

**

### B2B online stores

Selling to other businesses turns a store into a sales rep's tool. You need individual price lists, trade limits, registration with tax-ID verification, orders from a file and invoices instead of receipts. Most ready-made platforms handle this halfway, so the question isn't whether it's possible, only how much the workaround costs. On PrestaShop these features go in as modules and stay yours, they don't disappear along with a subscription.

**

### E-commerce development companies: local or remote

E-commerce development companies work across the whole of Poland today, us included: our office is in Kraków, and we run projects remotely. Wherever the contractor is, check team availability, a response time written into the contract, and the hours when someone picks up the phone. If you prefer meeting in person, we will, but we don't build our sales pitch on it.
