What is an AI Overview?
An AI Overview is a model-generated answer that Google shows above the list of results. It is built from the content of pages in the search index and names a few of them as cited sources. For the user it is a ready answer without clicking; for the site owner it is a drop in clicks with unchanged or growing impressions.
What exactly do I get in an AI Overview audit?
A list of queries agreed with you, marked where Google shows an AI answer, the text of those answers, the cited sources listed, a comparison of those sources with your site and a list of fixes ordered from the quickest. At the end, an hour's call about the results. Implementation is a separate decision and your team can do it without us.
How long does an AI Overview audit take?
Three to four weeks from the brief, including agreeing the list of queries. The measurement itself takes longest: we check the same queries many times, because model answers differ between sessions and a single check cannot tell you how often a brand is cited.
How is the audit different from AI SEO?
The audit is a one-off snapshot and ends with a dated report. AI SEO is an ongoing service: correcting facts about the brand, working on content and measuring share of answers every month. The audit is sometimes the first step towards that service, but it does not have to be and commits you to nothing.
How do I appear in AI Overview results?
There is no sure way, but there are factors that influence which sources get cited: a clear answer in the first sentences of a section, content that matches the intent of the query, a sound heading structure, Schema.org structured data and trust in the domain. The audit shows which of these your site lacks compared with the competitors that get cited.
Do I need to give access to Google Search Console and GA4?
Search Console, yes, because that is where we take the queries your site already appears on, and those are the ones we check for where Google answers on its own. GA4 helps estimate how much traffic those queries used to bring, but we can do the audit without it. Beyond access, all that is left for you is approving the list of queries and an hour's call about the report.
Can I force Google to cite my site?
There is no switch for it, and anyone who promises a guarantee is not telling the truth. What can be done is removing the reasons the model skips you: no clear answer to the question in the content, no structured data, figures without a source, out-of-date company information in the places the model draws from. That is exactly what the list of fixes contains.
